Lock-in the fun.
S'mores after dinner In lieu of a traditional spring camping trip to French Creek State Park or Ridley Creek (as had been originally planned), we pivoted to an indoor option that had proven itself enjoyable in the past. We gathered for activities and a sleepover at Temple Lutheran Church. It started outdoors at nearby Brookline park, then returned to the church cafe for pizza, then moved out to a fire pit for s'mores. As the sun went down, we moved inside for knockout, kickba

"Cubs No More" Crossover Event
2026 Crossover to Troop 434 In a first for Pack 462, the 2025-26 class of AOL (Arrow of Light) Scouts had a seperate ceremony at the March Pack meeting to facilitate an earlier transition into the troop. This crossover ceremony had previously been part of the end of season Blue and Gold (B&G) ceremony for many years, but the timing of that event doesn't allow the Scouts to get a feel for the next level before it's time to sign up for the all important summer camp. Now they ca

You Slept on My Battleship!
The Winter Camping trip returned to the USS New Jersey as we entered into 2026. We had over 30 Scouts elect to sleepover on the WW2 era floating museum. Each got to experience a tour of the ship and learn about how many sailors it took to man such a large vessel, from gunners to navigators, to communications officers, deckhands, and the Captain himself. But it's always the moms and dads who care about that stuff. The kids just like sleeping in tiny triple decker bunks and eat

Heavy Metal Thunder
This was the first year of the Pack 462 Pinewood Derby with our new metal track and it was a raring success! It's somewhat bittersweet to say goodbye to the old wooden one which was filled with legacy and history, but also warped and damaged by years of age and general wear and tear. The new track meant a new scoring system to accomodate 4 lanes, and a lot of prep time from our volunteer sub-committee. Special thanks to Ryan Onopa for leading that effort, Ashley Phillips for

Making Health Education Fun
Believe it or not, we managed to take our annual First Aid focused meeting up a notch again. Well, technically Lankenau Health Education center should get the credit. We went off site for the February pack meeting for a group session and 2 breakout sessions: each designed for our younger (Lions/Tigers/Wolves) and older (Bears/Webelos/AOLs) age groups. Just look at the pictures. The interactivity kept the kids smiling and engaged. That isn't easy. Thanks LHE!

MLK Service Day
With the Scouts off from school in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, we elected to honor him in a hand's on fashion by building thoughtful care packages with hand-drawn artistic messages on each. So many kid's showed up to help that we actually ran out of supplies long before they ran out of effort. Lesson learned. If you make a service event fun enough, you can help even more people than you think. (We'll buy even more supplies next year). The Lunchbags went to a good cause b

Happy Halloween 2025
Like always our October Pack meeting puts aside the typical learning elements and just goes for pure fun. The Llanerch Presbyterian basement was packed with games, candy, and costumes. The 6th graders who recently crossed over to the troop got to serve as judges for the Costume contest. Notable winners included Connor for funniest as the Lorax, Garrett for homemade with his Venom hand, and then I can't tell who's under the other masks, especially the boy who won for scariest.

Fall Fest / Garrison 2025
After many years, the Pack decided to return to Fall Fest down at Camp Hart during our fall trip to the Musser Scout Reservation. We slept at Camp Garrison like usual, but since we were at the Port Liberty campsite alongside the boarded up USS Cradle of Liberty bunkhouses, we were tent-camping this time. The AOLs helped cooked dinner and everyone enjoyed games of roofball, but other than that, the main activities were a short hike away at Fall Fest. Many more Scouts just cam
